Monday
– I flew out of Memphis connecting in Atlanta then on to Sao Paulo. The flights were cool I met some missionaries on the plane from South Carolina two of the guys were really tall . . . both were 6′ 6″ or taller. The young lady next to me told me that they would be in Sao Paulo for 18 months. I’m only going to be here for 3 months I’m wonder what type of Visa hey have.

Tuesday
– I arrive in Sao Paulo its gray, raining and very cool outside, I’ve got my hoodie so I’m good

– I have no phone service and I don’t see my ride so I ask Information for a phone, she directs me to Vivo (thank you for being able to speak English Information Lady) I make my way to the Vivo store and purchased a Vivo card and called my ride. In her broken english we successfully crossed the airport at least twice without seeing each other. The meeting location she gave me was the a restaurant . . . there were two restaurants in the airport both on exact opposite sides. How did I know where they were? I asked someone in the airport in the little Portuguese I learned before I came.

– We met up with Sergio, super nice guy (but don’t push him) English teacher from Florida he’s been down here for 2 years or more

– Picked up an air mattress and food from Extra (a small Wal-Mart type of store) and I buy three diet drink . . . I didn’t know what I was buying and my host didn’t mind to tell me 🙁

Wednesday
– First morning in Sao Paulo and I’m still waiting for it to hit me I’m thinking about my friends and family in the states, my going away party and what’s going to happen next.
– I sit in on a few of Sergio’s classes and talk to his students – I met two sisters that go to Canada high school, a young man who’s working from home today but spent 3 months learning English in London, and Nilson who has an infectious smile and personality. Nilson has a construction company and says that we will go out and party soon.

Friday
– After a few classes we hit the Gym . . . having someone to go to the gym with you is always good, going to the gym with someone who like to work out like crazy when you are a person who likes to work out like crazy . . . not good.
– We have plans on going out with Nilson but before we do we walk to his house and meet his friends these guys are drinking, laughing, and joking like there is no tomorrow. I’m waiting for someone in the neighborhood to come by and say something or for the police to show up . . . before long I’m two drinks in watching everyone talk and thinking to myself I think I understand them now and I’m trying to speak Portuguese and some of it works some of it doesn’t work.

Saturday
– Went to a rock concert (it’s more like a live band in a pool hall it was very nice) we met up with
Tauany and a group of  her girlfriends we all drove to meet up with a neighbor Nilson and his family  in VIP which was very HOT!! LOL we were up stairs (there is no central heating or air here and no windows in our section. Lots of beer lots of drinking, live music really good time.
